Can't sleep
got fed up with staring at the bedroom ceiling and listening to the wood pigeons, so I got up and came on here! Maybe I'll go back to bed soon though, but as I have to getup by 8 at the latest, maybe I won't!
Anyway, shocking lack of updates on my part is due to life being shockingly boring. However, this is due to change very shortly - hurrah!
Tomorrow I pick up our hire car and we are driving down to Portsmouth (well, Gosport really but as no-one as ever heard of it I tend to say Portsmouth ...) where we are staying with my parents for a whole week. We're already getting booked up to see people - on Sunday MrRev is preaching at both services in our old church, then we're seeing various friends for meals, going out for the day with S and children (yes, we're more or less friends again, if a little strained at times) and driving to the New Forest to see my uncle. Dad is pleased we're bringing a car because his is playing up, and it's my uncle's birthday that week so he really wants to go over there.
Graham (my uncle) has Downs, and he's been in hospitals and residential homes for years because my Nan couldn't look after him - she had 5 other children, one of them with polio, and in those days it was just the way things were. The place he's at now is lovely, the people own a smallholding and a spring water bottling plant, and they only have Graham and Michael living with them, so they get a chance to help out with everything, and get paid for helping with the water. It's a bit further from my parents than he's ever been, but it was that or an old people's home (because he's now over 60) so this is by far the best and he loves it.
Hopefully I will sleep better tonight, I feel a bit spaced out and I don't want to be ill on holiday :-(
I'm going back to bed now to see if I can relax now I've done something. Maybe ...
And to everyone on my flist who did that do you read me thing - yes, I do read all my flist, I just don't comment very much because there's so many of you! But I like reading ...
