film and book memes - at last!
Have finally got around to these:
The book one – passed on by
carolynp and
auntie_pat 1) Total number of books you own: 12 shelves, some double stacked, with a double stack on top! At a rough guess 600+
2) The last book you bought: last one to actually hit my doormat was Lesley’s Hilda Annersley: Headmistress. I have ordered a couple of Lone Pines from Topsy Turvy, to be published v soon.
3) The last book you read: Last book I finished was Changes for the CS, GGB edition. Currently reading Hilda Annersley: Headmistress.
4) Five books, or series of books that you couldn't bear to part with:
a) The Chalet School (including all fill-ins, continuations etc) – and by association, the La Rochelles.
b) The Lone Pine series by Malcolm Saville
c) Minnow on the Say by A Philippa Pearce – I have given this away and bought it again three times, I think that tells me I should keep it for ever now!
d) The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis
e) Noel Streatfeild’s Gemma series – another one I got rid of and had to re-collect.
Should I be worried that there is not a single “adult” book in there? No!
5) Which six people are you passing the baton onto? And why?
Oh help! As it’s taken me over a week to even reply to this, I think everyone I know has done it now. So I’ll wimp out totally and say “anyone on my flist who hasn’t done it yet”
And the film one – passed on by
auntie_pat (and possibly someone else - sorry I can't remember!)
1) Total number of films you own on DVD/video: combined with MrRev quite a lot. Actually, not that many films, probably a dozen or so taped from the telly. But about 180 (at the last count) Dr Who, all the Upstairs Downstairs, two series of Survivors, one and a half series of All Creatures Great and Small and all 7 seasons of Star Trek: Next Generation. Personally, about five including an exercise one I haven’t watched for years.
2) The last film I bought: can’t remember *embarrassed smiley* MrRev watches DVDs/videos while I read.
3) The last film I watched: see above! Went to cinema with friend’s kids at Christmas – the one with the guy who cancelled Christmas.
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
a The Sound of Music – always liked it and we both cry at Edelweiss
b. The Railway Children – “my daddy, my daddy” cue tissues
c. Metropolis – I want the DVD of this but I want the one with the Queen soundtrack.
d. Hopscotch – obscure 70s film with Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson. I saw it twice, on TV, and have no idea if it’s around on video. It was funny and I can still remember the title, so it must have been good.
e. Monty Python and the Holy Grail – for the lines I can quote. “Bring me a shrubbery”, “I’ll bite your knees” etc etc
5) Which five people are you passing the baton onto? And why?
See the book one above! Maybe next time one of these comes round I won’t be in Scotland and will get it done on time!
good news - my blood pressure is now "borderline" - ie high but not so high that I HAVE to have medication. Seeing as the medication made me feel half-dead, I am well pleased with this. I want smileys!
