Help!

My PC has done something weird again! I was trying to upload a photo to Facebook when the whole thing froze. So I shut down Firefox and opened it again. It kept asking me for a profile, and when I clicked on default (cos I've never had any others) it told me that one was in use. It then created me one called default user, but when I opened that, all my bookmarks had gone (and I had a lot, believe me!) I've now upgraded to Firefox 2, I still have no bookmarks and I have three shortcut icons on my desktop which I can't delete.

I know the bookmarks are stored somewhere on the computer because I came across them by accident when I was looking for something else once - but where?

I'm having to use IE at the moment and I don't like it :-(

Any ideas?

You have rebooted the computer from scratch, not just Firefox?

I have now - after I installed the Firefox 2. I just found a folder full of bookmarks but they're my old IE ones...

You may be able to transfer them into Firefox - I am not at all sure where Firefox stores bookmarks, but perhaps the Mozilla Knowledge Base could help?

Thank you - that looks helpful. I think I'll leave it till I get home though, I really should be getting ready for work. I think I have transfered my IE bookmarks into FF before, but I've accumulated rather a lot more since FF has been my default :-( I've just started re-creating my best ones - CBB, Mamods etc. Maybe it's a good thing, I had far too many really.

I lost some of mine when I upgraded to this computer, which was a nuisance, but I think I've got most of them back, and all the ones I seldom use (but still like to have) were saved.
